About the Programme:
This new programme has been developed to lend support and empower Hotel night porters and night teams to confidently upskill to navigate a range of challenges from critical personal and property security, health and safety, situations arising from alcohol usage and providing customer care whilst conducting their duties at night.

Trainers:
Terry O’Conner – Terry has an MSc in Security and Risk Management from Leicester University.
He brings a wealth of management and Training experience includes Security Skills at QQI level 4,5 and 6, Security Awareness, Conflict Management, Professional Communication Skills (written, verbal, non-verbal and radio), RVA (Responding to Verbal Attack), RPA (Responding to Physical Attack) and Physical Intervention Training.
John Cronin – A graduate of the world-renowned Institut Hôtelier César Ritz in Switzerland and a Ballymaloe-trained chef, John’s career
reflects a rare combination of formal European hospitality education and top-tier culinary expertise.
With over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, John Cronin brings a wealth of knowledge, practical insight, and passion for excellence to every project and training session he leads. Today, John focuses on consulting, training, and compliance in the hospitality and service industries, with a particular emphasis on health and safety, emergency preparedness, and staff development.
Marc Thornton – Marc, managing director of DTA Marketing, a well-established Marketing and Training consultancy in Dublin, is an award-winning trainer and Thought Leader in Customer Culture.
Marc is one of Ireland’ leading hospitality trainers and has devised and delivered programmes to hundreds of hotels, restaurants and retail outlets in Ireland, Europe and the Caribbean. He trains over 2,000 hospitality staff annually.
He regularly gives seminars on marketing, selling and customer care. Marc has written many articles for business publications and has
published a book called – “Winning Lifetime Customers”
Mary Kenny – Mary is the owner of Alcohol.ie, and has cultivated a comprehensive suite of training programs, including the Responsible Serving of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Gambling Training (RGT), equipping over 30,000 professionals with the knowledge to operate
with integrity.
